So on Monday was Sam's friend, Elias', birthday party. Sam has really been looking forward to this party ever since Elias' mom stopped to talk to me about it after preschool three weeks ago (thank you SO much) It is all he has been able to talk about! Elias is a friend from preschool and his mom said when she asked him what he wanted to do for his birthday, all he asked is that he get to go to the zoo with his best buddy Sam. That's it! So how could we refuse? The big day finally came and since I didn't have to babysit (it being Memorial Day and all) Amy and I decided to tag along at the zoo. Here the boys are at the very beginning looking at the lemurs. I love Sam's face in this one - very animated!
A picture of the three of us sitting on the lawn waiting for the animal encounters show to begin.
Boys rolling down the hill to get some energy spent.

One plus to going during the day is the fun stuff like the Animal Encounters show and feeding and petting the animals were open. I was really proud of how well Sam did with feeding the goats and then going inside the pen and petting them. He is usually terrified of animals and when we tried to get him to feed the goats at the state fair last year, he was too afraid. It may have helped this time that the goats couldn't get too far through that fence.

I thought this was a really cool idea to have a little play area in the zoo for the kids to stop and take a break and play before continuing on. The boys sure loved it!
Beautiful flamingos! You always think of them as a bright pink, but really they are more a peachy color.
To give you an idea of how worn out these kiddos were by the end of the day; Amy fell asleep not only before she finished her nightly bottle, but with it still in her mouth, too. It was a fun day to be sure!

I love the zoo (and so does Jamison). It looks like you guys enjoyed it too. :)
