Scary Incident

So for once I have some news that is NOT about Sammy! :) It was kind of scary, actually. The house we live in is kind of isolated because there are no houses very close and the house is set down a little hill. So last week a kind of creepy-looking guy came looking for a storage unit, which was fine and I gave him prices and let him look at a few and he said he would be back, but never came back to rent one. But he did come back Friday night and sat in his car up on the street behind the house, watching the house for over an hour. Of course Robert wasn't home from work yet, so it made me a little nervous but I figured I was being overly jumpy and didn't do anything about it. But yesterday, when I came home from my lunch break, he was sitting on the street behind the house again! So I got Sammy in the house, dead-bolted all the doors and called the police. They sent over three units and made him go away. He claims he was just sitting there texting his ex because he didn't want to do it in front of his kids, but the cops gave him a severe warning to stay away from us and if he comes around again we can pursue legal action. Hopefully it never comes to that, but as I have been thinking about this incident, it made me realize how grateful I am that I always have someone I can call upon when I feel threatened or in trouble. Many people think police are just for speeders or the criminals, but they are here for the everyday citizen, too. I just wanted to express my gratitude for these brave people that risk their lives to protect ours.

Tummy Time

Here's my little man enjoying some tummy time on the floor this last week. It is so fun watching him progress. For example, he used to hate being on the floor at all, let alone on his tummy. Now he loves it and can hold his head up very well and looks around at everyone and everything (except the camera!)

Sammy's First Major Milestone!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a picture of this awesome event, but today Sammy rolled over for the first time. A major milestone for a baby. He just decided he wanted to do it, and did it! He hasn't really been trying or practicing or anything, he just suddenly did it when I put him on the floor for some tummy time. And, not only did he just roll over, he did it three times in a row before he got tired of entertaining Mommy! Hooray for my little boy! :)

Monday

Sleep Thinking

This morning when I went to check on Sammy, I found him "contemplating the mysteries of the universe", as Robert calls it. So sweet!

Saturday

Beach Bum

So here is our happy little boy again. Today he is in his Hawaiian outfit Daddy picked out. I love this little shirt, it's soo cute! He looks like a regular "beach bum", minus the straw hat.
Sammy sure loves being in his swing nowadays because it allows him to sit up and see everybody and everything that is going on.
You'll notice his shirt is kinda dark all the way down the middle, yeah, that's from barfing up half his afternoon meal. Thankfully he is beginning to grow out of this barf-up-everything-I-eat stage!

Friday

Sweet Sammy

Last night, we took a family walk and, as you can very well see, Sammy really enjoyed himself. He loves being pushed in the stroller.
This is Sammy having some floor time, what a happy camper! :) He loves his little duck we put on his wrist all the time. It crinkles and has a little bell in it's head, so every time he moves his arm, it makes noise. Sometimes when he goes to look at it, it is so close to his face that he goes cross-eyed!
Here, Sammy doesn't quite know what to think of that silver thing that keeps flashing. :) Sammy has been prone to sucking on his fists now instead of sucking on his binkie, I love it!

Tuesday

He's Talkin' To Me, Like He Knows Me

Here is another cute movie of Sammy, only in this one, he is talking, it is soo cute! Enjoy!

Sammy's New Jeans

Here's my happy little boy in his new jeans. I can't believe they are so hard to find! We've been having a good time this morning talking and smiling and playing :)

Friday

O Frabjous Day! Callooh! Callay! I Chortle in my Joy!

Today is one of great celebrating and joy in the Skousen household. I have graduated with my Bachelor's in Nursing and have finished school completely, or at least for the time being!!! For the first time in my life, I have no more school to look forward to. It is a great and wonderful feeling, I must say. This last semester was quite difficult with managing the storage units and having a baby while still taking 18 credits online. But thanks to a wonderful husband, a very loving and available Oma and some very considerate teachers, I have made it through mostly unscathed! :) Just thought I would share my joy with all of you today, especially since I won't be walking I had to do something to make it feel a little more real.

Thursday

I Hate to Go

Sammy really liked being held and cuddled by an expert Mommy!
Here Robert is enjoying the perks of having beautiful little nieces that adore him! It was so hard to say goodbye to these sweet little girls today, but hopefully we can go visit them this summer when the new baby comes and the house gets done!!!?

Playing at Auntie Christine's

The girls came over to visit Auntie Christine so Mommy could go tour the nursery Uncle Robert works at. Here Karalie is showing me how you purse your lips to put chapstick on!
Lucy loves Karalie SOOO much!
The girls really liked getting Sammy's stroller out and pushing each other around the kitchen in it. It was so much fun having them around!

Tuesday

A Few More...

Natalie and Robert enjoying each other. The girls absolutely love their Uncle Robert.
Oma and Natty
Oma and Lu-Lu (don't you love nicknames?!)

Neices Over to Visit

This Lucy and my little brother, Matt sitting at the "little kids table" for dinner.
This is my older sister, Corinne, (who is expecting her fourth girl, yay!!) and her youngest little angel, Karalie. It has been so fun having my sister and nieces here visiting from Washington for a little while.
These are all the little kids at the little kids table waiting patiently (or not so patiently) for their brownies. Clockwise are Natalie, Karalie, Lucy and Matty.

Conference Weekend

This is Sammy's new favorite way to be held by Daddy. This weekend he started liking being on his tummy alot more. Now he likes being laid on the quilt on the floor, he even fell asleep once!
This is my gorgeous little sister, April and her boy-toy, John. The picture is a little dark, but they have cool whip on their faces because April pulled the classic joke on John where you open a new thing of cool whip and ask them if it smells funny. When they lean down to smell it, you shove it in their face. Believe it or not, Robert did this to me the night he proposed, and yes before he popped the question. Pretty sure of himself, huh? :)

Wednesday

Hiccups

This morning Sammy had the hiccups, it was so cute! A customer came in to the office and Sammy was hiccuping away and thought he was so adorable (it was a little old man)! I couldn't resist, so here's what Sammy sounds like when he's got the hiccups.

Tuesday

Some Random Photos

These are some I wanted to share, but didn't know what to put them under, so here they are! The first is a pic of one of Samy's new outfits that I absolutely love on him. The other is Sammy in what we have dubbed "The Burrito Wrap". I had to get him up to take Daddy to work one day so I could have the car. As you can see, he doesn't really mind too much. :)

Talkin' with Daddy

This video we took over the weekend. Sammy sure loves his Daddy! We have really enjoyed getting Sammy to smile, talk and even laugh a few times. It's so much fun each time he learns a new trick, I just can't believe how much he has grown! They definitely grow too fast!
