Quick Tidbit

Just a quick little update on us - Robert had a good time fishing, although no one caught any nearly as large as the last trip........so other fishing places are on the agenda for next year. Sam is loving all the sunshine and our trips to the different parks, but Mommy can't keep up. I woke up Saturday morning with a sore throat and a major headache, but thought it would clear up with a good rest. Nope! Now we are into full blown bronchitis which will keep us at home and probably even inside for a day or two. But we got some good medicine to get me back to my usual self soon. The biggest downer about all of this besides feeling miserable and trying my darndest to not give it to Sam, is I had a job interview with the local hospital to work in their labor and delivery unit; bummer! But we are rescheduling and I will let you all know how that pans out! Later!

Lately Sam's two favorite things are throwing rocks in the ditch and snorting ("nort") He laughs nearly hysterically when he get those around him to snort as well. So cute - for now!

Gardening Ventures Continue

So I am posting a few more things from the weekend - I hope you enjoy! First off is to tell you all about my newest and latest gardening ventures! A sweet lady in my ward no longer wants her thornless raspberries, so Friday my friend and I went to dig some starts. Not only did I get a bunch of raspberry starts, but this sweet lady kept offering us flowers that she no longer wanted.

I said "Heck yes!" to free flowers and promptly changed our plans of shopping to planting for the day. Sorry I don't know names, but I was given these cute little purple and yellow flowers that I used to fill the space along the back of my flower garden. These are supposed to spread out very nicely and come back every year, so here's to hoping!

Then this is a daisy bush the lady no longer wanted. I had daisy bushes last year, but they didn't come back, so it is nice to have one again, even if it looks a little out of place with the geraniums :)

And last, but not least, here are the raspberry starts. I had taken so many home that I decided to do the zig-zag row to use them all. When I had Robert rototill this space, I had thought it would be enough for three or four rows of raspberries. NOT! Apparently raspberries need lots of space in between, so hopefully this will be enough space between and enough raspberries to keep me happy, because there isn't an inch for expansion. I figured I might as well give it a try, at least the starts were free, right? Anyways, here they look pretty good, but after one day, many of my starts are looking pretty sad. Not just wilted, but some of the canes are flopped over. Does anyone know if this is good, bad, or normal?

Girl Time

So since Robert is gone fishing, my older sis Candace came up for a visit. We had to keep up our tradition of pedicures and enjoyed getting some crazy colors with crazy glitter on top this time! Just a note, the freakishly long toes do NOT belong to me ;)

Here we are eating at Gator Jack's Sandwich Shack - a very fun themed place similar to Subway, but much better in my opinion!

Candace and Sam hung out this morning while I went to get some raspberry starts and flowers from a lady in our ward. Sam just loves swinging in the hammock!

Sam loves his Auntie Candace! She taught him how to say "Tandace ROCKS!!", so we will have to show off that new talent to Daddy when he gets home :)

And one of many Sam's silly pictures. Yesterday we took him to my neighbor's house down the street to play on her swingset and slides to kill some time. We also enjoyed some shopping, getting Auntie Candace's oil changed, and watching "Dear John" and "Leap Year"

Update on Us

So we want everyone to know we are still here and we are doing ok. We've done a few things, so I'll catch you all up on the stuff going on around here. First off, my garden is doing specatcular! We have corn coming up and all six of our pumpkin plants have sprouted. And I am excited to share that I may be getting a raspberry patch as well! A lady in our ward doesn't want her thornless raspberries anymore, so I had Robert on the rototiller again creating a space for some yummy raspberries. This picture is of the rosebush I recieved for Mother's Day and the beautiful blossom that is beginning to open up, so pretty!

On Saturday Robert understood that I was really struggling, so he came home early and we got some great things done; first, we got the car in to Sam's Club to get our flat tire fixed, and we also did a much-needed major shopping trip. Then, we got some rods at Home Depot to put up these curtains on the back doors. We had the curtains from our previous home and it has really bothered me that we didn't have anything to cover the back doors because there is a barn at the end of the field behind our house and you can really see well at night. Besides that, the morning sun comes in the windows and really warms up the house which is nice for winter, but not for summer. So we put up the curtains and even though it seems really dark right now, we will get used to it and I think we will be able to keep the house much cooler this summer! *Don't you just love the little stand I found for my flowers? I found the best kind of garage sale - a free one! So this little stand cost me nothing!! It works great here, but eventually I can see it in my front entryway with a friendly little pot of flowers welcoming guests to our home!*

Also this weekend after the trip to Idaho Falls, we went out after dinner to fish near Robert's work. There is a dirt road that goes down below the dam where the Ririe Reservoir is and there is a nice little shallow pond where Robert can catch fun little (less than six inches long) fish with Sam. They have gone a few times, but this time I tagged along and it was so much fun to watch Robert let Sam do the reeling and to see the excitement on Sam's face when he felt a fish tugging on the end of the line. After about ten minutes, Sam became more interested in splashing sticks in the water and Robert kept on fising, catching a total of five fish in about 45 minutes. It was a nice end to a much-needed family day.

Now this week we are back the grind and enjoying the summer weather. Wednesday Robert is off for the guys fishing trip to Flaming Gorge with my dad and the other brothers-in-law. Remember, the trip where he caught the 35 pounder? Needless to say, he is extremely excited to go again and with his nice long fillet knife he got for Christmas!

I know we haven't officially announced on our blog that we were expecting, but most people knew from one source or another. We were waiting for the midway ultrasound so we could tell everyone the gender, but circumstances have changed. On Monday we found out I miscarried, probably about a week previous. Monday night I had a D&C (if you don't know what that is, just know it is a surgical procedure that just makes the entire experience that much harder to deal with) and I have been recovering well, physically. It is hard to know what to say. We thought the Lord had agreed with us that now was the right time to begin trying again, but now I am not so sure. The reasonable part of me says that these things just happen and we should go at it again and not be deterred. Yet the heartbroken mother inside feels so lost and devastated. So please keep us in your prayers as we struggle with this new challenge. We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and meals and flowers that have been sent - they are such a joy to look at and are a reminder of how many people love and are thinking of us.

But even through all the pain, I find myself being able to smile and even laugh at times thanks to my little man, who is so adorable despite the terrible two's!

The Key to a Perfect Sunday

More Progress

Tonight we went shopping for flowers for my whatever-you-want-to-call-them pots next to the front door. We both love the overflowing baskets of colorful petunias, so we were able to find some mini wave petunias that we thought would do well.

And while I was planting the flowers, Robert kept up his work ethic and quickly built us a step for the back door - hooray!! I caught all the fill in work he did over the weekend, too. This entire area has looked horrible since before we moved in, so even though it is dirt, it looks tons better!

And then as we were headed out, Robert grabbed this little basket of happiness. He knows that I love getting flowers, but he hates forking out for something that will die within a few weeks, so this is a happy compromise because it will provide beauty for the entire summer (if I don't kill it!) Again, this is a mini wave petunia, hopefully what our front flower boxes will look like soon!

A Little Friend

So yesterday Robert did not have to go to work AT ALL. For those of you who know us well, this is a very rare occurence, so we spent the day working outside some more. At the end of the day Robert said next time he has a day off, he's not staying home because he works harder than he does at work! To my defense, I was perfectly willing to leave the yardwork for another day, but he wanted to work on cleaning things up outside. But we did end the day right with a delicious grilled dinner with some friends and enjoying being able to hang out again.

We got so much done again, I am amazed! Just those little things that DO bother you, but you never seem to have the time or energy to really get to them? Yep, checked a whole bunch of those off our list! As I was spraying the weeds that are ever so abundant at our place, I came across a really pretty greenish blue egg. Turns out it was a robin's egg and the baby was still inside. The egg was so warm! I had no idea where to look for the nest because I had found it on the road side of the ditch, nowhere close to a tree. But Robert had noticed a bird's nest in one of our decorative trees in front of the house and he could barely see in that there were two eggs inside that looked just like our little friend, so we put it in the nest and hopefully everything will be ok with the little birdies. The top picture is just to show you the nest and then the second one, I just held the camera looking down on the nest so I could see what was inside and took quite a good picture, I think! If only that darn leaf hadn't gotten in the way! Oh well. Hope you all enjoyed your Memorial Day, we certainly made the most of ours!
