Our Truck is No More

Yesterday we make the long drive up to Ogden to get our stuff out of what is left of our little truck. For those who did not hear the story, Robert was driving back to Oregon after April's wedding and hit an icy patch on the freeway. The truck spun twice before hitting one of those large, green "Exit in 1/2 mile" type signs. As you can see, it desimated our little pickup.
And thankfully, the truck was between Robert and the sign, so he was not hurt at all. Walked away with no cuts, bruises or worse injuries. And, Robert didn't hit anyone else or cause anyone else to wreck, although there were many other accidents on that strip of freeway that day.

Also thankfully, we had just paid for our auto insurance that week AND, I had been trying to convince Robert that we didn't need to keep paying for comprehensive insurance, now that Jacob was on his mission. Had we not paid the insurance right away and had we not continued our full coverage, we would have had to be out all that money we just spent on the truck. But, the truck was valued at nearly the same price we paid for it over a year ago!

Goodbye little truck! We have loved having you!! :(

Want to take a Guess?

So a couple weeks ago, my OB Dr. called me about my mid-pregnancy blood test results to let me know that the test for spina bifida came back elevated, meaning my chances of having a baby with spina bifida were 1 in 11. For those of you who don't know a whole lot, basically spina bifida is a defect of the spinal cord. These children have many health issues including being paralyzed. So we went in this morning to re-draw the labs to double check the results and to have an ultrasound to see if any defect was detectable. Thank goodness the baby looks completely fine, everything is great. The baby's measurements are right on with my due date and she looks to be a strong, healthy baby. Yes, I said SHE!!!! We will be having a beautiful baby girl and we are thrilled! As far as names are concerned, we always seem to agree on boys names, but not girls, so if anyone has suggestions, feel free to share! I like Alexus, so then we can call her Lexie (my mom's and his mom's names combined) or Olivia and call her Livy or Ruth. Robert has said he likes Mary or Rebecca, but we can't seem to find one name we both absolutely love, like with Sammy. I will try to be able to scan in the ultrasound pictures later when I have the computer genius around, but I wanted to post our good news!

Visiting the Potters

This is Camilla, Potter girl #4, sitting up
She falls asleep on her tummy on the floor all the time, it's so adorable!!

This is Karalie, Potter girl #3. They call her their "cherub angel" because of her rosy cheeks and golden curls. It is also unique because Mom and Dad and all her sisters have dark brown hair!

Potter girl #1, Natalie. She loves having her picture taken. I haven't gotten Lucy (#2) to sit still enough for a picture yet, but I promise I will get one and post it soon!

Beautiful La Grande, Oregon

These are some pictures I took out the windows of the house Robert has been staying at for the last month or so. The area is simply gorgeous with all the colors changing to yellows, oranges and reds. These are for my mom since we weren't able to take our drive to the canyon to look at the fall colors!

Cute Sammy Pictures

Sammy in the mud room trying to escape
He's pulling himself up on things more and more these days. His latest feat is to pull himself up and stand there until he falls over sideways or backwards, usually ending up bumping his head on something and screaming until Mommy picks him up. Oh what joys!
Emptying all the movies out of the entertainment center - another new favorite pastime.
And one last one just of my cute little man. He really is growing sooo much, I can't believe it!

Endowments

John's parents, the lovebirds, and my Dad outside the temple. I was able to be April's escort through the temple, it was an amazing experience!! Thanks so much for allowing me the honor, April, I was so glad I could be there!

Husband Tag

A friend of mine did this husband tag and even though she didn't technically tag me, I wanted to do it too, so here is some info about my hubby:

1-Where did you meet? We first met when his roommate and my best friend decided to go out for ice cream after country dancing at BYU-Idaho. I didn't want to go home alone and he didn't find a girl to take out, so we went together.

2-How long did you date before you were married? Counting from that first date in September, we went nearly a year to the next August. We didn't really pick up on the dating until November, though and got engaged on Valentine's.

3-How long have you been married for? 2 years, 3 months and counting

4-What does he do that surprises you? He really has a tender heart and is considerate of everyone. This doesn't really surprise me anymore because I have come to know that that is the way he is, but it surprises me to find such a trait in such an outdoorsy-farmer-tough kind of guy.

5-What is your favorite quality about him? I don't know if I can choose just one....I love the trait listed above because I am included in his consideration for all around him. I also love that we can have great times just doing the simplest things like watching a movie at home or cleaning our cars. We just enjoy each other's company so much, I love it because I don't really have that with anyone else.

6-Does he have a nickname for you? The one I wish he would use all the time is Estrellita, which means "little star", but he often calls me "woman" when he wants something or is mad and "chica" or "sexy" the rest of the time.

7- What's his favorite color? Green or blue

8-What's his favorite food? He loves Mexican food, but real Mexican food, not American Mexican and anything spicy

9-What's his favorite sport? Motorcycles and wrestling

10-Who said "I love you" first? I don't really know, but knowing both of us, it was probably me.

11-When and where was your first kiss? On our first "official" date to one of the BYU-Idaho formal dances, I think they called it Preference. On the steps leading up to his apartment.

12-What's your favorite thing to do as a couple? I have no idea, you'd have to ask his opinion on this one, but I think we both love it when we can go to the temple together. I know it sounds cheesy, but we never get to anymore and we always come away feeling so in love.

13-Do you have kids? How many? We have 1 son, Samuel and 1 more on the way due April 8th

14-What's a hidden talent he has? Robert has some really awesome things he can cook. I won't eat anyone else's waffles now because I love his so much. And he makes the best egg, cheese and bacon burritos you've ever tasted.

15-How old is he? 24

16-What's his favorite type of music? Rock, pop and country. I guess a little of everything

17-What do you admire most about him? How hard he works for our family. He never complains about the difficult things he's had to go through in order to get jobs or to provide for our family. He is willing to ride his bike on icy roads so that I can have a car to drive when I want to go somewhere, talk about sacrifice!!

18-What's his favorite pastime? Motorcycles, guns, basically doing things. He doesn't like to sit around the house, he wants to be out and doing things, even if it is working or fixing things he would rather do it than sit and watch tv or a movie.

19-Do you think he is going to read this? Not unless I tell him about it, then he may check it out to see what all I got wrong about him!

I love you, Guapo!! I now tag Corinne, Kayla (when you've recovered from having Gracie), Renee, Adalynn, Kelli, and anyone else who wants to share a little something about their hubbies (especially since most blogs are done by the women and you never get to hear about the men)

Monday

Count Your Blessings

So the wedding went well this weekend and my little sister was beautiful and we all survived. But on Sunday Robert had to go back to Oregon to help finish the harvest. On his way home, he hit a patch of ice, started fish-tailing in our little Toyota truck and slid off the road hitting a major traffic sign. Our truck is now totalled, but thankfully Robert escaped completely unharmed. He didn't hit anyone else and even though an officer helped him call a tow truck, we weren't issued a ticket. We are immensely grateful for how favorable this situation turned out. Sammy and I weren't with Robert, which we had been considering. The truck is fully covered (we just paid our insurance last week). Robert wasn't hurt, and, my sister and her family were a little ways ahead of Robert going the same direction, so they were able to turn around and take him the rest of the way to Oregon. These and many, many other blessings we are grateful for today!

Tuesday

More of Sammy

So I took a whole bunch of pictures of Sammy this last week and went to post them, but realized that I had left the memory card in the computer and with everything being packed away, I don't have access to the cord to connect the camera to the computer, so these are the only pictures I have to post of Sammy for now. He loves this little basket Mom and Dad have and also my stethoscope. More to come soon of our reuniting with Daddy and Auntie April's wedding this weekend!

Thursday

Happy Birthday!!

So today is my 22nd birthday and in order to celebrate, I decided I wanted to go to the Provo Temple with my Mom. I figured since I couldn't spend my special day with my best friend, I could spend it with my Mom, helping someone else and in the most beautiful place I could be. We went with the intention of doing initiatories, but it was a really long wait, so we did sealings instead. It was soo cool getting to be in the temple again (I haven't been in over a year with being pregnant with Sammy, Sammy being born, etc).
After that, we went out for lunch at Macaroni Grill and then went shopping at my favorite place....Bed, Bath & Beyond. I picked out my present from my parents, which was an awesome rice cooker! I haven't ever had one and I figured it would be practical to get one considering how much we eat rice (at least once a week) and I am getting tired of Minute Rice, so now we have a sweet rice cooker we can begin using when we (finally) move! It was a great birthday!!
