Sammy's New Outfit

Last night Daddy got his shotgun he's been wanting. He was in such a good mood that I was able to convince him to go shopping in Orem. I took full advantage of this situation, buying several outfits for Sammy and some for myself as well. This overall outfit was probably the cutest thing we could've bought for Sammy, it's sooo cute on him! He looks like such a little man.

Tuesday

This Weekend

So this last weekend was pretty fun. Friday, as you can see below, my little brothers came over to visit. I made the famous Smith Gooey Rolls for the first time and they turned out pretty well, just a little overdone, but I didn't kill the yeast! Hooray for me! So, to return the babysitting favor, my mom came over on Saturday afternoon to watch Sammy and the office so that Robert and I could go out and have some fun. We drove up to Orem to see if we could find Robert the shootgun he has been wanting for ages (see above picture), a Benelli Nova. But of course, no one has the one he wants (20 gauge, black, 28 inch barrel, etc). So after that we went to eat at Red Robin and then made our monthly shopping trip at Sam's Club. It may not sound very fun, but it was great to really spend some time together (we usually can only go out for an hour or two, but this time we were gone for about 4 1/2 because Robert was able to get off work early)

Uncles Dan and Matt over to Visit

Sammy loves his uncles and they love coming over to play!

Yesterday

My little angel. Lately Sammy has been prone to taking long naps throughout the day, which Mommy is extremely grateful for because she is able to get alot of housework and homework done, along with getting some very sweet pictures!

Some happy tummy time yesterday as well. I can't believe how much he smiles now, it brightens everyone's day!

Wednesday

Thinking...

Hey everyone,
I was thinking the other day while talking with Robert about random stuff and I thought about how often I find myself saying "I'd like to do ______, when I get more time" or something similiar to that. Don't you? Then I thought, why put off everything until later, I just need to make the time and do it now, I am sick and tired of waiting for a better time to do the things I love and want to. So that is my new resolution is to take maybe an hour a day to spend doing something I've always wanted to do, but have never had the time to. So I encourage all who read this (which is probably all of five people or so) to do the same. Life is so short when you think about it, we need to enoy the time we have here and enjoy it with those we love.
Have a great day! ~Christine

Sammy's First Walk!

So, it was just so beautiful yesterday that I took Sammy with me to check the mail, but that was about as far as we could go without a stroller. So last night, we went and bought one of those cheap umbrella strollers so now Sammy can come with me when I go walk around the storage units, checking the locks and such. Today was our first time out and Sammy looked so cute in his stroller and also in his little coat Oma bought for him. We had a great time and the weather was pretty nice, just a little windy. I think it will quickly become part of our routine, he liked it so much and Mommy loved getting out of the house for a while!

The Marbles

Thanks to Grandma Smith for this picture. This is Kayla, Adam, Ellie (she's the older one) and Emma Marble. Kayla is Robert's older sister. This is picture is from this last Christmas. The Marbles are showing off their scarves and cups with their names on them.

Our Families

The Skousen Family: top row, left to right- Jacob, Mark (Dad), Robert, Adam (Kayla's husband), and Lisa. bottom row-Shanna, Trixie (Mom), Me, Kayla, and Kurtis. Kayla and Adam have to sweet little girls, Ellie and Emma, but they left them with family members for the wedding. I will go find pictures of them and post them later.
The Whatcott Family: top row-Candace, Roland (Dad), Robert, Ben (Corinne's husband), Angela, and April. bottom row-Matthew, Natalie, Leslie (Mom) with Lucy on her lap, Me, Corinne with baby Karalie, and Daniel. This is pretty much how our family still is (besides, of course Sammy), for now. Candace is engaged, Corinne is expecting Girl #4 and April is dating like crazy at college, so the family may get alot bigger before the year is out.

My Nieces and Brothers

So this is (obviously) one of the pictures from our wedding almost two years ago. Isn't my honey HOT? Ok, now back to business. One of my friends posted pictures of her nieces and nephews and I thought it was a good idea. My nieces are soo adorable! The oldest on the left is Natalie Noel, the one on Robert's lap is Lucy Lynn and the sweet baby I am holding is Karalie and I don't know her middle name, sorry! Natalie and Lucy still look much the same, but Karalie has grown a TON! She is only about a month old in this picture. They live with their parents in Prosser, Washington and we had a great time last summer living close to them and visitng each Saturday to help them add on to their home.
Behind us are my two little brothers, Daniel and Matthew. They are also pretty much the same, just older and taller. Daniel loves Calvin and Hobbs comics and is always checking books of them out of the school library and likes me to read them to him when I come over to visit. Matty is in kindergarten, so usually about once a week he and my mom come over to visit me and Sammy. We have fun playing with Sammy and making cookies, things like that.

What more do I need to say? He was so sweet and angelic, I had to post these photos!

Blessing Day

Samuel Kent Skousen was blessed on Sunday, March 2nd, 2008 by his Daddy. Those in the circle included Grandpa Skousen, Grandpa Whatcott, Great-Grandpa Whatcott, and two cousins and an uncle of Daddy's.
The outfit Sammy wore is the same one that his Daddy was blessed in 23 years ago! It was made by his mom with the same fabric she used to make her wedding gown, so it meant alot that he could still fit into it! All of Daddy's brothers were blessed in this outfit, too. The little booties were knitted for Sammy by Great-Grandma Smith and the white blessing blanket was made by Grandma Skousen.

Here we are after the blessing with Grandpa Whatcott and Great-Grandpa Whatcott. Four generations! Sammy had had enough pictures and looking cute by this time, so it was hard to get a good shot! :)

With Grandpa

Sammy was so excited to finally meet his Grandpa Skousen! They had a great time getting to know each other during Grandpa's visit.

Hangin' Out

So here are a few of Sammy hanging out with Mommy and Daddy this last weekend. You can tell he's having a blast by the expression on his face! :)

Knitting

Here is Great-Grandma Smith knitting some little white booties for Sammy to wear for his blessing. And yes, she is knitting with not one or two, but FOUR knitting needles! It was amazing to watch her go!

Tummy Time

Here Sammy is enjoying the beautiful new quilt his Great-Grandma Smith made for him.
He's still getting used to the idea of "tummy time" :)
