Saturday

Daddy's Buddy

Today Sam got to spend most of the day hanging out with Daddy being his buddy. These pictures are from this morning when Sam was helping with bringing in firewood to warm up the house. He often likes to do this, whether it is me or Robert who is bringing wood in for the fire.
Don't you just love his little hat? It is a little big for him, so once he has been wearing it for a bit, he has to lift up his head so he can see you, too cute!

Here they are, stacking the wood in the stove. After they got the fire going, the boys headed out to enjoy a morning of fishing with some friends - the best way to spend one of the few Saturdays Daddy has off! The fish they caught were quite small, but Sam had a blast anyway. They even brought one home to join our two goldfish in the fishtank, but so far he has been too scared to come out from behind the castle, poor fish!

Monday

Finally Home

Well, alot has happened over the last two weeks! Sorry to be MIA so long, but things happen and sometimes you just have to roll with the punches!
The boys and I had a great time while Mom and Dad were in China. We watched movies, played with playdough, got frozen yogurt at a fun place called Yogurt Bliss, went to Jumpin Jacks (blow-up stuff to jump and slide on), went to the planetarium in SLC and IKEA, colored pictures, and did some much needed cleaning of their rooms.
With over 25 cans of playdough and two accessories sets, there was much fun to be had by all!

Daniel's pig

We also got to help Daniel prepare for his science fair at school. He and Dad had already done the experiment, but we helped him write the report and make the poster. He did an awesome job and had the unique idea to figure out how a lava lamp works.

When Oma and Opa got home was the best, though! They came bearing gifts of course and Sam was the recipient of a pair of silk jammies - so fun! He laughed when I was helping them on because they felt different from the fleece ones he is used to. All the girls recieved real pearl earrings and necklaces and for my bravery on the homefront, I was rewarded with a Dolge Gabbana purse that is blue leather! Very sweet!
We were originally supposed to get home Friday, but Robert's uncle passed away while I was in Utah. So Robert flew down Friday and we picked him up from the airport early this morning on our way home. It was really nice to get to spend more time visiting with Mom and Dad over the weekend, which included taking Sam and Matt to the Bean Museum at BYU and then later Opa watched the boys so us girls could go out shopping - so fun and so needed! So now it is back to the good ol' grind. The dishes and laundry were patiently waiting for me, but so was my Valentines/Mother's Day gift - a new automatic garage door opener!!!! I cannot believe how sweet and thoughtful Robert can be! He knows how much of a pain it is to not only lift up the semi-heavy door, but to get in and out of the car to close and then open it every time I go somewhere. My gift to Robert didn't come close to comparing, but I think he will still enjoy his new clay pidgeon thrower :)
Hope you all have a great week and we'll post again soon!

Heading Out

So Sam and I are headed out in the morning for Utah. My Dad is traveling to China on business and he and Mom decided to take advantage of it, so she is flying out a little later to join him for a few days of sight-seeing. Thus Sam and I are going down to hang out with my awesome little bro's for a week and a half, so probably no posts until we get back. (Sam loves to have a turn (and demands it) on the treadmill each morning once Mommy finishes her walk/jog)
This weekend we had the....um....opportunity? to speak in church on Sunday. I think it went ok, each of us took a good tangent off of the main topic that has been spoken on every week for the last month and frankly, I am just seriously relieved to have it overwith. I think we're set for the next ten years :)
Sam has really hit his terrible two's stage and it has been hard to adjust. That's what the pictures are all about. They help remind me that I didn't become a Mom because kids are always fun and happy and sweet, because we all know they aren't! But, my little guy IS so much of the time, it helps me get through the tough times when he's rolling around on the floor just screaming and there is nothing I can do. Hopefully this stage will pass quickly so I can have my happy, sweet little boy back full time and if not, I will keep taking pictures like these to remind me how blessed I am! Have a great week everyone!
